Day 9 - 06-17-08 - Albuquerque, NM to Flagstaff, AZ

They swore that the holes would be fine with just a little duct tape

The sunrise. Yes we saw it coming up since we woke up at 4:15 this morning or 3:15 California time

They fill the balloons with cold air first

Then they fill it with warm air

Right before take off

Ground crew cleaning up after take off, they then get in the vans and follow us to wherever we end up landing

We swear there is someone sitting outside of that house waving at us

Touchdown
They call this the daisy where they open up the top to let all of the warm air escape

Our skid marks from landing

Stuffing the balloon back into the bag

Look at that another bridge

Uranium Cafe where they serve bright yellow pancakes

Look familiar? Think Cars the movie

Continental Divide, really nothing there to show for it except this sign

'giant' fireworks

El Rancho where all the famous stars (unlike the un-famous stars) stayed while making movies out in the desert

See the Coke sign? That's the Eagle where we had lunch. Highly reccomend trying the lamb stew

'giant' Indian

We stoped to see some really scared trees

The painted desert

Where else but America can you drive through national treasures and enjoy the sights from the comfort of your own car?

Newspaper Rock

See that look of excitement in Harwin's eyes? While at Newspaper Rock he met two very nice people from a Texas newspaper and got his picture taken. Now we can barely get him in the car because his head has swelled so much from his fame

This tree has formed a natural bridge in the park, but notice the reinforcement? It's similar to the Pueblo Church where they are 'helping' the structure stay intact.

Wood shaped rocks

'giant' dinosaurs, or would they really be considered giant since that is probably about how big they would be

Sign said to

so Harwin did

Apparently the Westerner is a clean Motel

Get it? Standin' on the corner in Winslow, AZ

'giant' meteor crater

It costs $15 a person to get in just to see a hole in the ground. We recommend just sending in one person to get the pics

Largest piece of the meteor ever found

Mark at ground zero (not really, they won't let you down there but Mark thought he was there)

And another bridge

Arizona? Looks more like Tahoe

First glimpse of home

Granny's Closet where we stopped in Flagstaff for dinner. Nothing but a bunch of dirty socks hanging around, don't bother trying it
