Day 7 - 06-15-08 - Amarillo, TX to Santa Rosa, NM

Only in Texas do you find a boot brush outside by the door at your hotel

'giant' duck

Cadillac Ranch which isn't actually on the Route

Watertower for the town of Adrian which is the Midway point of the trip

In Adrian there are supposedly a couple of random signs but this was the only one we found

According to the building, this is what Southwestern Art looks like

Route changes from pavement to dirt

Harwin blocked our path so we couldn't take the dirt road even if we wanted to

Crossing the border into New Mexico

Town of Saint Jon

'giant' ice cream cone

and yet another 'giant' cow

A couple of great signs

Narrow tunnel that the route crosses through

Harwin wanted a picture with the train we saw. The conductor tooted the horn a couple of times and was waving

The little wooden building on the right side of the picture, that's the post office building

The ''Wild' Pecos River

Old church in Puerto de Luna which is one of New Mexico's oldest permanent settlements. Billy the Kid reportedly had friends here

Road GPS said to take to get to Fort Sumner and is labeled as Route 91

What Route 91 turns into

What Route 91 eventually becomes and a shot of our car

BBQ shaped like a gun

Harwin at the Billy the Kid Museum that has his real gun and a replica of the grave site

Another museum that has the REAL grave of Billy the Kid

The tombstone was taken twice so no they aren't taking any chances

Town of Santa Rosa where we stayed for the night

Harwin at the Comet II where we had dinner. We recommend this place if you would like a little 'spicy kick' on Route 66

You guys are really making good time! I love New Mexico! Are you going to Santa Fe? Any of the cliff dwellings? Know it's off the route but...

Looks like a lot of fun! Thanks for sharing.
