Day 8 - 06-16-08 - Santa Rosa, NM to Albuquerque, NM

Good 'ol Harwin enjoying his perch in the back seat

Mark doing a happy dance in his seat after picking up his lost sunglasses at Comet II because the goober left them there the night before

The view

Route 66 also doubled as the Santa Fe Trail for part of the trip

Enjoying some good tunes

Pecos National Historic Park

Ruins

Mark was reading the guide and said that this was where they kept the tiger and if any bad guys got caught, they would go into the pit (actually these are remnants of underground meditation huts, but tigers sound so much better)

The church in 1915

The church today. Please note that they are BUILDING on the premises. They claim they are just reinforcing the structure, but next thing you know there will be tigers in the pits!

Can you believe they let me take a picture of them actually making the fake bricks

On another note this is a picture of the Santa Fe Trail ruts that runs through some of the same property

Harwin taking a moment from his busy schedule to pose for a picture at the visitor's center

Santa Fe (if you couldn't tell from the lodge name)

Harwin at our lunch stop. It was hard to find and trust us you don't need to find it

This is a bowling group from Florida that we met at dinner. They were in Albuquerque for a national tournament. The only reason we met is because the guy in the bright green shirt (obviously he is loud) was walking through the restaurant talking to people so Mark and I thought he was the manager. He comes by our table and asks how dinner is and then we get to talking about us being on our honeymoon and yadda-yadda. Well he goes back to his table and announces to them and the whole place that the table in the corner (us) is on their honeymoon. Plus as Mark and I were leaving the whole table yelled goodbye to us, so we made them take a picture with Harwin

We found it! The best BBQ joint on the route, they even deliver www.airribs.com
