Day 2 - Chicago to Springfield - 06-10-08

Mark feeling out the new car as we drive on our way to......

SUPERDAWG!!! Our buddy Harwin (Harold's cousin twice removed on his mother's side) posing with the Dawgs

The beautiful packaging where as the box says,
my "Superdawg lounges inside"

Beautiful neon green relish and Mark enjoying his lunch

A few shots of Chicago

A route 66 sign in Joliet

A 'wanna be' Route 66 giant. This is actually the Jackhammer Man in Joliet

Harwin hanging around with a real 66 Giant, Gemini

Navigation screen proving we were on Historic Hwy 66

A subway tiled gas station

The watertower (all the cool towns have them) for Bloomington Normal (I'd hate to see Bloomington Strange)

Harwin with another 66 Giant, Bunyon

A giant cow

The Tropics sign, guidebook said it's a landmark

Harwin with a giant covered wagon driven by Mr. Abe Lincoln

The Cozy Dog was our dinner stop (apparently hot dogs were a favorite on the route). This stop was opened by the inventor of the corn dog after WWIs and is still family owned today

Remember your food pyramid. Try to eat a salad now and then I don't think relish counts towards your daily requirements of vegetables. I will forgive your lack of greens if you post a picture of a giant fruit or vegetable. DRIVE SAFE. Therese
