Day 11 - 06-19-08 - Needles, CA to Victorville, CA

The Wagon Wheel. Just about the only place to get a good breakfast in Needles and let me tell you the pancakes are the best ones on this side of the Mississippi (next to my dads of course)

Out in the middle of nowhere west of Needles this is the Route 66 graffiti trail where all of the true route travelers leave their mark. My Mark didn't want to stay out in the middle of nowhere so we left our initials instead

'Giant' Road Runner

It's HOT

Shoe Tree

Roy's Motel where the book says a lot of car commercials take place

Harwin at Amboy Crater

See all of the 'magma'

Harwin at our lunch stop and just so you know, if it says with chips, it literally means a bag of Lay's potato chips

Mark had to get out of the car to inspect the 'magma'

Bagdad Cafe

Collecting the sun's power

Calico Ghost Town - it's not on the route but close enough

Calico Bottle House

Inside the Calico mine

Who in their right mind would give a big ogre looking guy a sledge hammer?

Metropolitan Nash at the Route 66 Motel in Barstow

Look how cheap gas was!

Bottle garden

The Roy Rogers Ranch

And yet another Route 66 Museum in Victorville

'Giant' Hula Girl (if only she could meet-up with the 'giant' boys on the other side of the country)

Do Not Enter the Interstate is the perfect slogan for the Route since that is what killed it
